There’s always something special about discovering the stories behind every stay. This one’s from my time at Lilit Banglumphu Hotel, right in Banglumphu, one of Bangkok’s charming old-town neighborhoods. I’m sharing a few takeaways from my stay and hope it brings you along.
Calm Morning at Wat Bowonniwet
It’s been a while since I last saw Muay Thai live at the stadium. This time, I’m here to support Archie. I enjoy every fight, but I’m especially excited for Archie’s match. He’s fantastic, and when he wins, I nearly lose my voice cheering—but it’s totally worth it.
Muay Thai at Rajadamnern Stadium
The gentle touch of the sunshine and morning breeze invites me to enjoy a peaceful moment at the temple. Like others who arrive before me, I take a few moments of stillness to admire the intricate details of its art and architecture. The temple is just across the road and only a few minutes’ walk from the hotel, so there’s no need to rush.
A Room Bath in Light
Staying on the top floor allowed me to see both the pool below and the sky above. I discovered this magic one evening, just as I was about to leave for a walk. I watched the sunset streaming through the window, casting warm colors across the room. I thought I was meant to leave earlier, yet it turned out to be the perfect moment to linger a little longer in the room.
Night Walks
Night walks bring a sense of calm. With every step, I walk with myself and savor the night scenes of Bangkok along the river. Night walks can be challenging, but I believe they also invite us to be mindful of our actions.
When I am truly with myself, I realize there is nothing to fear. I just need to be aware. I enjoy noticing that there is only a shadow following me, simply because the shadow belongs to me. And what about other shadows? Of course, they belong to others.
Photography
Working with hotels has brought me back to my camera, and it feels wonderful to reconnect with the art of photography. Every corner tells a story, and I love capturing it both with my eyes and through my camera.
